In Europe, all countries of the European Union (EU) operate the Time Change twice a year. Moreover, almost all other European countries have the same time rules. This leads to the fact that almost all countries’ inhabitants make their clocks jump to Daylight Savings Time and Winter Time at the same time (except Iceland).
Since Europe is spreaded over 3 time zones (Western, Middle and Eastern European Time) the actual changing of the time takes place at the same moment, but at different times. The change to Daylight Savings Time takes place on the last Sunday in March, but at different times: In the Western European Time from 1 am to 2 am (Western European Daylight Savings Time UTC+1), in the Middle European Time from 2 am to 3 am (Middle European Daylight Savings Time UTC+2) and in the Eastern European Time from 3 am to 4 am (Eastern European Daylight Savings Time UTC+3). The change back to Winter Time or Normal Time happens on the last Sunday in October. The clocks need to jump back by an hour (depending on the time zone from 1 am to 2 am, 2 am to 3 am or 3 am to 4 am).
